Position Overview – IX Plant Superintendent Jobs in Kalumbila Reporting directly to the Assistant Process Manager, the IX Plant & Services Superintendent will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations of the IX treatment plant and associated services. Responsibilities include overseeing mill relining preparations and execution, managing hired mobile equipment, coordinating housekeeping services, and supervising general hand labour contractors. The role demands continuous improvement initiatives across all service-related activities within the processing environment. Key Responsibilities Manage all hired mobile equipment supporting Process Plant operations, ensuring optimal scheduling, availability, utilization, and safety. Lead area inspections and uphold 5S principles to maintain cleanliness and organization. Plan, prepare, and execute SAG and Ball Mill relines, maintaining checklists, readiness trackers, and progress monitoring with all stakeholders. Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, RME/Liner suppliers, and contractor teams to ensure mill reline readiness. Track delivery schedules for tools, consumables, spares, mill liners, and bolts, managing resource allocation effectively. Oversee safety, execution quality, critical path management, and reporting during mill reline activities. Conduct contractor performance evaluations, audits, competence assessments, and compliance inspections. Facilitate onboarding, safety inductions, and competency verification for contractor personnel. Ensure all IX and Services operational areas comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental standards. Perform risk assessments, lead toolbox talks, conduct inspections, and participate in incident investigations. Maintain adherence to discharge specifications, environmental controls, and brine circuit management. Participate actively in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) meetings, audits, and compliance reviews. Develop and manage annual budgets covering labour, equipment hires, and materials for IX Plant operations and services. Prepare and submit comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly reports on plant performance, equipment utilization, mill reline progress, and contractor effectiveness. Maintain accurate documentation to support audits, compliance inspections, and metallurgical tracking. Drive continuous improvements in IX Plant operations, including brine handling, resin performance, and filtration/backwashing systems. Candidate Requirements Full Grade 12 School Certificate. Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy, Chemical, Process, or Mining Engineering, or a related qualification. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in process plant operations, shutdown management, and service coordination. Proven experience in mill reline planning and IX operations is highly advantageous. Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, hired equipment, or services within a mining context. Valid membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
