About the Inventory Controller Role

The Inventory Controller will be responsible for the effective oversight, control, and safeguarding of all inventory held in the hotel’s central stores. This role requires maintaining accurate stock records, ensuring timely processing of inventory transactions, and facilitating seamless coordination between stores, purchasing, and user departments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities for Inventory Controller Jobs in Lusaka

Develop and implement robust inventory management policies, procedures, and standards.

Analyze inventory levels, identify trends, and investigate discrepancies.

Ensure Goods Received Notes (GRNs) and return notes are accurately processed in the system.

Verify that all received goods are properly authorized.

Ensure supplier invoices are submitted within 24 hours for prompt processing.

Collaborate with departments to optimize inventory levels, minimizing stockouts and overstocking.

Maintain store cleanliness in compliance with HACCP standards and enforce safety and hygiene protocols.

Develop and manage inventory budgets and forecasts to support operational goals.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Supervise and train inventory staff to maintain accuracy and efficiency in inventory management.

Conduct regular inventory audits and physical stock counts to ensure accuracy.

Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies to continuously improve inventory control.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inventory or stores management, preferably within a hotel or well-established lodge.

Proven track record in a similar hospitality environment role.

Proficiency in inventory management software and technology platforms.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments.

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Physical capability to lift up to 15 kilograms and stand for extended periods.

High integrity, attention to detail, and strong leadership qualities.

Skills and Competencies

Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.

Proficient in relevant inventory systems and technology.
