Job description
Legal Aid Board (LAB) is a statutory body established under the Legal Aid Act chapter 34 of the Laws of Zambia. The Board is mandated to provide legal aid services to persons with inadequate means. The Board now seeks to appoint dynamic and pro-active persons to be based at Lusaka office and invites applications from suitably qualified person for the position of:Technology maintenance services
1. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
JOB PURPOSE:
To manage the development, maintenance and security of information systems in order to facilitate; efficiency and operational excellence, ICT risk management and information security, data and Knowledge Management
KEY RESULTS AREA & PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Database Management: To manage effectively the development and maintenance of functional databases in order to facilitate processing, storage and retrieval of information
Data Recovery; To manage timely the development, review and certificate of backup and data recovery procedures in order to ensure preservation of institutional information/databases
Network Administration; To manage effectively the continual operations of the organization LAN and WAN networks in order to facilitate communication and ensure availability of online resources; Hardware/Software Management; To manage effectively the acquisition, maintenance and disposal of hardware and software in order to facilitate provision of ICT services.IT management training
Provide general computer support and administration including software installations, license management, server set up and management, printers, audio/video conferencing, deployment of ICT equipment and management of ICT inventories
Website development and management
Database Security and risk management; To manage effectively security and privacy of information system, communication lines and equipment in order to safeguard electronic resources on the Network as well as general ICT risk management; ICT Capacity Building and knowledge management; To plan, supervise and undertake periodic training of staff in order to enhance their skills in ICT and use of systems. Undertake ICT change management.
Develop and update ICT policy. (Define processes and procedures and ensure they are properly documented).
Initiate the procurement process for ICT equipment and services 9. Undertake any other duties as requested by the supervisor which are ICT related
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Full Grade 12 certificate with at least 5 credits including Mathematics and English
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution. Certifications in Microsoft Certified Professional Programs, Cisco Certified Network Administration or any other approved information technology certifications are an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the planning, implementation, support and development of IT projects.
Hands on experience in Hardware and Software support including but not limited to (WAN/LAN Troubleshooting techniques, Desktop/Laptop/Printer installation and Troubleshooting, WAN/LAN active and passive devices upgrade)
Member of the Information and Communication Technology Society of Zambia (ICTSZ) as an added advantage.
Experience in different Operating Systems including (Microsoft and opensource).
Experience in Office applications (MS Office Word, Excel, Access etc.
