Job description

Our client, an energy and infrastructure development company operating in Zambia is seeking is seeking a dynamic and experienced Hydrological Engineer to lead hydrological assessments, flood risk modelling, and water-resource planning for power generation and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will support sustainable water management aligned with national environmental regulations and energy-sector standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic studies for project development and compliance.
  • Perform rainfall–runoff modelling, watershed evaluations, and flood‑risk analysis using advanced modelling platforms (HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, SWMM).
  • Analyse groundwater and surface water datasets to assess availability and sustainability.
  • Design stormwater management and drainage systems.
  • Prepare analytical reports for regulatory authorities, including WARMA.
  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and environmental specialists on water‑resource issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, or Civil Engineering (Hydrology).
  • 7+ years’ experience in hydrological assessments, preferably within power or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Zambian water regulations and environmental approval processes.
  • Proficiency in hydrological modelling tools.
