Zambia Sugar Plc, a leading sugar producer in Zambia and part of the ABF Group, is inviting applications for the position of Human Resources Officer based in Nakambala, Mazabuka, Southern Province. Position: Human Resources Officer (Fixed Term Contract – 2 Years)

Reporting directly to the Human Resources Business Partner, the Human Resources Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the HR function to achieve business objectives through effective HR service delivery and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities for Human Resources Officer Jobs in Mazabuka

  • Support and implement comprehensive HR plans aligned with business goals.
  • Manage employee life cycle processes from recruitment to exit, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Provide accurate and timely HR data to support decision-making and talent management.
  • Collaborate with managers and employees to foster a positive workplace culture and strong employee relations.
  • Deliver day-to-day HR support focused on customer-centric service and process efficiency.
  • Coach line managers and HR colleagues on policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives within the business unit.
  • Support labor productivity improvements including overtime, leave management, and allowances.
  • Promote diversity, localization, and adherence to statutory and organizational policies.
  • Resolve first-level HR queries related to payroll, benefits, attendance, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to identify training needs and monitor training outcomes.
  • Support change management and employee well-being initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on employee conduct and performance issues in line with employment legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with ABF Group policies including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • A degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Preferably 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a similar HR role with a proven track record.
  • Applicants must provide certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
