Who are we

Kids Alive (www.kidsalive.org) is a Christ-centered organization that believes every child, even those with the most challenging needs, is a priority to God and far too many are overlooked, unheard, exploited, and threatened.

Our mission is the call of Isaiah 1:17, to serve these children by constantly learning to do good, earnestly seeking justice, standing up to what oppresses them and advocating for their rights. Our commitment to this biblical truth compels us to rescue orphans and vulnerable children, and meet their spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional needs, with compassion and excellence.

Purpose of the position

As House Parent, demonstrate high sense of love and care, by being responsible for the well-being of the children under their care. They must monitor the children all day to ensure that they play and interact with one another in a safe and appropriate manner. The children from hard core environments of abandonment, rejection, sexual abuse, confinement and neglect, therefore, House Parent will be expected maintain utmost sensitivity and awareness of emotional, psychological, social and physical needs of the children or any traumatic situation must be treated with care, love and respect. 

QUALIFICATION:

The ideal candidates should have the following qualifications/qualities:

Grade 12 Certificate
A female or male aged 40 years and above
More than 3 years’ experience working in a care facility
Able to take care of a house and children.
Able to prepare healthy and nutritious meals for children
Self – Motivated, flexibility and capacity to work under pressure and long hours.
Any craft or social science certificate, diploma added advantage
Trained in first aid, caregiving principles, parenting, processes and procedures is an added advantage
Knowledge and understanding of childcare principles
Good communication and listening skills with ability to converse with children, fellow professional staff and parents or guardians
Must be mature from a stable family or home.
A caring and compassionate attitude with excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
Multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at any given time
Able to read and write in English. Fluent in Nyanja or Bemba.
A born-again Christian with a personal faith in Jesus Christ, sober and a heart for serving orphans and vulnerable children.
