Role Overview:
Heavy Equipment Repair Coordinator shall provide leadership and direction to the maintenance staff which involves the operation, servicing and repair of heavy-duty equipment and supervising the activities of employees engaged in the operation and repair of heavy equipment such as tractors, backhoes, loaders, forklifts, Excavators, Telehandlers Excavators and cranes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all Artisans are scheduled with work orders or defect dockets on mechanical works.
- To repair and maintain Loaders, cranes, forklifts, Tractors, excavator, Tipper trucks and light vehicles
- Provide training and support to the maintenance crew being led through maintenance programs
- Oversee and maintain maintenance program
- Coordinates all activities in the Garage workshop
- Schedules equipment repairs to minimize impact on productivity
- Manage Repair decisions and ensure compliance with scheduled maintenance PM of equipment and manage workflow
- Assembles reports on the suitability, reliability, availability and operating costs of various models of equipment
- Ensures service spares kits are available and assists in budget preparations
- Ensures that the maintenance shop, bays, Tools, Storage containers and yard are properly maintained, organized, functional safe and clean
- Maintains comprehensive records for each item of equipment with respect to down time
- Trouble shoot diagnose and repair and repair equipment
Preferred candidate qualifications & experience
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Craft Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair
- Five years’ experience in repairing, operating and maintaining heavy equipment
- Must have worked as Heavy Duty foreman for not less than 5 years
- Working in the mining set up is an added advantage
- Must produce certifications of previous trainings
- Must possess a driver’s license
- Must be knowledgeable of OSHA and general safety requirements of heavy equipment shops
