Role Overview for Heavy Duty Auto Electrician Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems on a range of heavy machinery and vehicles. Key duties include reading electrical schematics, diagnosing faults in charging and electronic control systems, and servicing components such as alternators, starter motors, and sensors. You will also conduct routine inspections to prevent breakdowns and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams accurately.
• Repair and replace wiring, sensors, alternators, starter motors, and electronic parts.
• Diagnose faults in charging, starting, and electronic control systems.
• Maintain and calibrate electronic controls on heavy equipment, including hydraulic valves and generator panels.
• Conduct routine inspections to prevent equipment breakdowns and uphold workplace safety.
• Work with 12V, 24V, and industrial electrical systems.
• Provide technical support for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Ensure adherence to company safety and quality standards, including Health, Safety & Environment Management System requirements.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Proficient command of English, both spoken and written.
• Strong team spirit with a professional attitude.
• Ability to work responsibly under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to operate electrical diagnostic tools such as multimeters and clamp meters.

Qualifications and Experience

• Craft Certificate in Auto Electrical from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair or Auto Mechanics.
• Minimum 5 to 7 years proven experience as a Heavy-Duty Auto Electrician specializing in buses and trucks.
• Experience with Scania trucks, buses, and engines is an advantage.
• Extensive knowledge of modern heavy-duty vehicle electrical systems, including Chinese systems.
• Familiarity with both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) electrical systems.
• Ability to read and utilize vehicle electrical wiring diagrams effectively.
