Reports to: The School Director

Job Purpose

The Headteacher will be responsible for setting the school’s vision, ethos, and strategic direction. Take charge of the development and implementation of strategic plans that drive the school’s improvement and success. Oversee the day-to-day management of the school, including staff recruitment and retention, performance management, budget management, and resource allocation. Establish a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Be responsible for comprehensive school management, including staff supervision and administrative coordination.
Oversee classroom instruction and academic activities in alignment with ministry policies
Ensure implementation of educational curriculum and teaching standards
Monitor and evaluate regularly the delivery of academic programs in order to determine their Impact and recommend appropriate intervention.
Manage and develop academic staff through coaching, performance monitoring, and professional development
Maintain pupil discipline and welfare
Manage school resources, facilities, and administrative processes
Facilitate effective communication with stakeholders, including the district education office, staff, students, and parents.

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12 or Form V School Certificate with 5 ‘O’ levels
Minimum Diploma in Primary Education
Degree in Education Management would be an added advantage
Must have a minimum of 10 Years teaching experience of which 4 years of work as a head or deputy head teacher
Expert knowledge of strategies for closing the gap
Excellent knowledge of monitoring and school self-evaluation as a tool for improvement
Knowledge and understanding of effective strategies to manage the behaviour of pupils
Excellent understanding of safeguarding especially the safety and welfare of vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils
Must have good Curriculum and Educational Knowledge
Must be exposed to Microsoft Office (word, excel, power-point) and internet in general
Must have a Valid Teaching Council Certificate
