Poultry Attendant

Job description

Goldenlay Agri Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Poultry Attendant.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Ensure proper access, feeding and watering of poultry.
• Maintain high standards of bird welfare.
• Keep poultry houses clean at all times.
• Assist with the collection of eggs safely and securely.
• Keep and check poultry mortality records.
• Ensure machinery and equipment are in good working condition and report any defects immediately.
• Adhere to biosecurity rules and quarantine procedures. Before duty, shower and change into approved PPE.
• Ensure feed is always available and poultry feed stock never runs out; treat any shortage as an emergency.
• Assist with other poultry-house tasks, including catching birds when depleting for sale.

Requirements:
• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Certificate in General Agriculture or a related field.
• Computer literate, with skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• At least 3 years’ work experience in poultry farming.
• Mature and responsible, preferably aged 25–35 years.
• Must be registered with AIZ and hold a valid practising licence.

Other skills:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good communicator and able to work in a multicultural environment.
• Stable personality with a passion for poultry management.
• Team player able to work with minimum supervision.
• Fast learner and able to adapt to new environments.
