Our client, a reputable Solid Waste Management Company based in Lusaka, seeks a highly competent, results-driven, quality-conscious, and suitably qualified individual to run the firm as:

GENERAL MANAGER

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will provide overall strategic leadership and oversee the effective management of operations, finance, and business growth.

Key Accountabilities:

Oversee daily operations, including waste collection, transportation, recycling, and disposal

Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations

Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams to achieve operational efficiency

Develop and implement business plans, budgets, and performance targets

Manage stakeholder relationships including local authorities, regulators, and clients

Drive revenue growth, cost control, and service excellence

Prepare and present management and performance reports to the Board

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field

A Master’s Degree (MBA, Environmental Management, or similar) will be an added advantage

At least six (6) years post-qualification experience in a busy, fast-paced environment, with a minimum of three (3) years at senior management level

Demonstrated experience in solid waste management, utilities, logistics, environmental services, or municipal services is highly desirable

Key Competencies & Skills:

Strong leadership, people management, and decision-making skills

Sound financial and operational management expertise

Excellent strategic planning and problem-solving abilities

Strong understanding of environmental and regulatory frameworks

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism
