Fruit and Veg Assistant

Job description

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient, quality customer retention and service
• Set up attractive displays to encourage customer purchases
• Ensure all produce is correctly priced and labelled
• Conduct daily counts of stock and report shortages
• Dispose of spoiled produce responsibly and record wastage
• Assist in receiving deliveries and verifying quality against supplier invoices
• Help prepare special displays for seasonal fruits and vegetables
• Provide information on storage, preparation and nutritional value of produce
• Follow workplace safety rules when handling crates, knives or cleaning equipment
• Maintain logs of stock rotation, cleaning schedules and quality checks
• Support colleagues in other departments when needed

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certificate or Diploma in food or hospitality
• 1-2 years of experience in fruit and veg production
• Basic knowledge in fruit and veg preparation
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Physical fitness and ability to work at heights
• Candidates should be medically fit

• Must be able to stay calm and focused
• Interpersonal skills
• Supervisory skills and ability to train employees to use time efficiently
• Physical Exam Required: Medical Report and Police Clearance
