The Foreman, Excavator will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and availability of the maintenance team. This includes overseeing equipment maintenance, assessing operational efficiency, and driving initiatives to improve equipment uptime and safety.

Key Responsibilities for Foreman Excavator Jobs in Solwezi

• Supervise planned and breakdown maintenance on all mechanical systems of excavator machines.
• Ensure compliance with work orders and coordinate parts procurement from onsite warehouses.
• Promote collaboration between maintenance and mining operations to optimize workflow.
• Prioritize tasks based on equipment criticality and production demands.
• Drive achievement of equipment availability and reliability targets.
• Advise management on potential hazards related to equipment operation.
• Apply expertise in reading schematics and troubleshooting equipment faults.
• Maintain strong commitment to safe work practices and conduct routine safety inspections.
• Coordinate team activities according to the weekly maintenance plan and participate in its development.
• Manage rotable parts on the shop floor in collaboration with parts controllers.
• Liaise with leadership on performance and embed a culture of quality repairs and continuous improvement.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify opportunities for operational enhancements.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Minimum Grade Twelve (12) Certificate.
• Craft or Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair or equivalent qualification.
• Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with PRONTO software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• At least 4 years of proven experience working on Liebherr and Hitachi excavators.
• All academic qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
