Job Purpose

The Financial Controller will be responsible for preparing, analyzing and controlling the financial results of the various local and international entities. Prepare and check internal reports on a monthly / annual basis. Preparing budgets/outlooks. Maintaining balance sheet- and permanent files. Identify trends in financial performance and providing recommendations for improvement

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

Managing the timeliness and quality of reporting
Ensuring reliability and integrity of the accounting information
Take ownership of the balance sheet, P&L
Be responsible for all statutory matters (monthly VAT return/ Corporate tax/PAYE/etc.) point of contact with tax authorities
Ensure timely monthly Finance reporting
Oversee in depth cost analysis
Guaranteeing reporting quality consistency
Setting up Manual of Procedures, Identify key risks & propose mitigation controls to minimize exposure
Coordinating with other members of the Group finance team as well as working closely with the individual companies finance teams to review financial information and forecasts
Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
Ensure close follow of account receivables
Implement and monitor internal controls related to payroll to prevent errors and fraud
Reviewing operational data and maintaining data accuracy and integrity
Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
Oversee payroll processing and related controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements
Preventing errors by setting up internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

Full ACCA, CIMA or CA Zambia
Degree in Accounting or Finance will be a plus
Must have a minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience in Finance aligned to financial controlling 
Must have audit experience with any of the Big 4 Audit firms
Proven experience in payroll management
SAP & SAGE ERP systems knowledge is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Ability to multitask and meet constant deadlines
Must be a member of ZICA
