Skills to live Zambia is looking to fill the position of Fashion and Design Trainer

 

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Skills to Live Zambia is a locally registered organization affiliated with Young Africa International and is dedicated to empowering vulnerable youth with skills training for employability and entrepreneurship. Our program integrates vocational training with life skills education, digital literacy, entrepreneurship training, psychosocial support services, and talent development in art and sports. By equipping young people with these essential skills, we ensure they are work-ready, self-reliant, and able to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.

 

Job Description:

The Fashion and designed trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing vocational training programs in garment construction, measuring and cutting. This role bridges the gap between foundational theory and practical application, ensuring trainees acquire the technical competencies, mechanical skills, and safety awareness required to succeed in industrial manufacturing and engineering sectors.

 

1.      Key Responsibilities

·      Instruction: Deliver comprehensive, hands-on and classroom training in modules like garment construction and machining handling.

·      Curriculum Development: Design lesson plans and practical assessments aligned with industry standards and local accreditation boards such as TEVETA.

·      Evaluation: Monitor trainee progress through continuous assessments, mentorship, and structured feedback. 

·      Safety Management: Enforce strict health and safety protocols and best practices, including proper handling of tools, metals, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

·      Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all workshop equipment and tools are calibrated and in good working order.

·      Partnership Establishment: Collaborate with industry partners to enhance job placement opportunities for students.

 

2.      Education and Experience

·      TEVETA accreditation as a Fashion and Design.

·      Minimum Diploma or Craft in Fashion and Design, or a related field.

·      At least three (3) years of industry experience in Fashion and Design.

·      Previous teaching/training experience in a vocational setting is an advantage.

·      Strong practical skills in garment construction, measuring and Cutting.
