About the Export Officer Role Reporting to the Exports Supervisor, the Export Officer will manage all cargo export functions from acceptance to dispatch. This includes coordination of cargo and mail acceptance, documentation, handling, storage, and dispatch activities in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and aviation regulations. This full-time position demands meticulous attention to detail and operational excellence to support timely flight departures and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities for Export Officer Jobs in Lusaka Cargo Acceptance and Documentation: Calculate freight and handling charges, prepare air waybills, and ensure all cargo is properly documented, labeled, and ready for shipment per airline and regulatory requirements. Prepare outgoing and incoming cargo manifests and Notification to Captain (NOTOC) documentation for dangerous and special cargo. Maintain accurate filing of cargo receipts, dockets, manifests, and related documentation. Cargo Operations and Compliance: Ensure cargo handling adheres to company policies, IATA, ICAO, and ZCAA regulations, as well as customer SLAs and SOPs. Supervise cargo and mail loading activities to guarantee safety, security, and operational efficiency. Handle special cargo such as Valuable Cargo (VAL), Vulnerable Cargo (VUN), and Dangerous Goods (DG), coordinating necessary security and equipment arrangements. Equipment and Quality Control: Perform daily scale accuracy checks and report equipment defects for timely repair or replacement. Coordination and Communication: Liaise with Load Control on cargo bookings and space utilization, communicate cargo volumes and special handling needs to operational teams, and coordinate with airline, customs, and security stakeholders. Operational Performance: Support on-time flight departures by executing cargo-related tasks within required timelines and contribute to continuous process improvements. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent. Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Aviation Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related fields. At least two years of experience in cargo operations, freight forwarding, logistics, warehousing, or aviation ground handling. Knowledge of air cargo operations, documentation, and airline handling procedures. Familiarity with IATA Cargo Handling Procedures and IATA TACT Rules is an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cargo management systems. Required Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Customer service oriented with professionalism and accountability. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Understanding of aviation safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
