About the Role: ESG Officer Jobs in Lusaka

As an ESG Officer, you will provide strategic leadership in the design, coordination, and execution of ZCCM-IH’s ESG policies and compliance functions. Your work will be instrumental in managing risks and protecting the company’s reputation, thereby facilitating access to land, capital, regulatory approvals, and broad social acceptance.

This role requires close collaboration with internal teams to implement robust reporting processes that ensure data accuracy and reliability, contributing to enhanced ESG performance and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and implementation of ESG strategies that are evidence-based and data-driven.
• Manage and report on the ESG strategy execution for both the company and its group, impacting investor relations and brand value.
• Continuously improve ESG reporting processes and internal controls to guarantee audit-ready, reliable data.
• Develop, benchmark, and review sustainability objectives and improvement programs for various portfolios.
• Oversee annual ESG report preparation, including data collection, content development, and external assurance.
• Ensure alignment with ESG disclosure standards and proactively address challenges to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.
• Coordinate responses to inquiries from ESG rating agencies and act as the primary contact for internal ESG data requests.
• Drive stakeholder engagement to embed sustainability practices throughout the business operations.
• Support risk management and audit closure processes across subsidiaries and strengthen oversight for portfolio companies.
• Provide technical expertise on environmental and social impact assessments and sustainability risks in line with industry best practices.
• Contribute ESG insights into the company’s business planning process.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management, or a related technical/science field.
• Professional ESG certification such as CFA Certificate in ESG Investing, IPF, CISL, or equivalent qualifications.
• At least four years’ experience in a similar role within a complex, fast-paced environment.

Skills and Competencies

• Technical: Regulatory compliance, corporate social responsibility management, sustainability reporting, risk management, and strategic networking.
• Behavioural: Strong stakeholder management, persuasive communication skills, advocacy, and ability to build strategic relationships.
