McTech Zambia Limited is seeking a committed and experienced Environmental Safeguards Officer to join our team in Lusaka, Zambia. This contract position offers a unique opportunity for professionals passionate about ensuring environmental compliance and advancing sustainable practices within corporate projects. Role Overview: Environmental Safeguards Officer

As an Environmental Safeguards Officer at McTech Zambia Limited, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all company operations meet environmental laws, regulations, and sustainability standards. Your expertise will help minimize environmental risks and promote best practices that align with both local and international environmental frameworks.

Key Responsibilities for Environmental Safeguards Officer Jobs in Lusaka

  • Ensure strict compliance with environmental legislation, policies, and standards governing company projects.
  • Conduct thorough Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and perform regular environmental audits.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) tailored to project requirements.
  • Identify environmental risks early and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare detailed environmental reports and maintain documentation for submission to regulatory bodies.
  • Promote environmental awareness, sustainability, and best practices across all departments.
  • Engage with government agencies, stakeholders, and local communities on environmental matters.
  • Oversee waste management, pollution control, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with relevant standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental compliance and safeguards.
  • Proven knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance frameworks applicable in Zambia.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental audits.
  • Strong report writing and data analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
