Africa Personnel Services is recruiting on behalf of a leading energy and infrastructure development company in Zambia for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their power generation facility based in Sinazongwe, Southern Province. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all electrical operations across the plant, ensuring compliance with national and international standards. This contract position demands a proactive leader who can manage design, installation, and maintenance activities while promoting health and safety standards throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
- Ensure compliance with electrical standards and international codes to maintain regulatory adherence.
- Champion Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices, including proper PPE usage and safe work protocols.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct risk assessments to enhance system reliability and operational safety.
- Monitor and optimize electrical power usage to improve plant performance.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation and coordinate with suppliers and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of six years’ experience in power generation or heavy industry environments.
- In-depth knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, high voltage (HV) systems, and switchgear.
- Membership with the Engineers Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is mandatory.
