Job description

The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is a statutory body established through Statutory Instrument No. 137 of 1999 of the Science and Technology Act No. 26 of 1997 to spearhead the development and application of space science, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS) in Zambia.

The NRSC is looking for a suitably qualified, dynamic and self-motivated Zambian national to fill the position of a Driver. 

Reports to: Human Resource Officer

Position description.

The Driver’s responsibility is to provide reliable and efficient transport services by driving and maintaining NRSC vehicles, ensuring the safe movement of staff and materials, and supporting the Centre’s operations in accordance with institutional policies and road safety regulations.

Key duties include:

·      Drive NRSC vehicles to transport staff, materials, and equipment as required.

·      Plan routes and ensure timely transportation services.

·      Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and reliability.

·      Keep vehicles clean and presentable at all times.

·      Accurately complete and maintain vehicle logbooks for all authorised journeys to ensure accountability.

·      Ensure vehicles are parked securely and safely at authorised locations.

·      Promptly report any accidents and prepare accident reports in line with institutional procedures.

·      Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required experience and qualification

·      Valid clean SADC driver’s license.

·      Grade 12 School Certificate

·      A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a similar capacity.

·      Basic Mechanic Skills
