Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is seeking qualified and experienced drivers to join its Operations Division under Facilities & Premises Management at the Head Office in Lusaka, Zambia. This opportunity to contribute to the Bank’s strategic vision offers a full-time position focused on providing essential logistical and fleet management support.

About the Driver Role

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the Bank’s motor vehicle fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining vehicle roadworthiness, reporting defects, and supporting the Bank’s transport needs both within and outside the country. This position plays a key role in upholding the Bank’s image through vehicle cleanliness and compliance with all relevant laws and procedures.

Key Responsibilities for Driver Jobs in Lusaka

  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections including oil, water, brakes, lights, road licenses, and vehicle fitness to maintain roadworthy conditions.
  • Report all motor vehicle defects promptly to supervisors to facilitate timely repairs and prevent further damage.
  • Ensure all Bank vehicles are kept clean and presentable to reflect a positive image of the Bank.
  • Report any road traffic accidents to state police and supervisors, complying with legal and insurance requirements.
  • Adhere to proper vehicle handover and takeover procedures for accountability.
  • Drive Bank vehicles for official assignments both within Lusaka and across the country.
  • Plan and manage routes to optimize time efficiency and transport provision.
  • Maintain accurate logs for vehicle maintenance, service intervals, and overtime with necessary approvals.
  • Liaise with service providers to ensure quality vehicle maintenance within budget limits.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards related to vehicle operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum education of Grade Twelve with 5 O-level passes.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license with no certificate restrictions.
  • At least 5 years of professional driving experience.
  • Good knowledge of the highway code and road safety regulations.
  • Certification in mechanics is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Good customer care orientation and professionalism.
  • Basic skills in vehicle mechanics to identify and report faults effectively.
  • Ability to work under physically demanding conditions, including extensive travel.
