Job description

WE’RE HIRING | DIRECTOR OF SPORT 

Musikili Primary School is seeking an exceptional Director of Sport to lead our vibrant sports programme from January 2027 (or by agreement).

We’re looking for an experienced educator and sports leader who is passionate about developing young people through sport and can inspire a culture of participation, excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Proven leadership experience in school sport
• A recognised teaching qualification
• Strong coaching and organisational skills
• A passion for developing children both on and off the field
• The ability to lead staff, manage fixtures, tours and events, and contribute to the wider life of the school

Essential Requirements:

✔ Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sport, or a related field (or an undergraduate degree with a recognised postgraduate teaching qualification)

✔ Current registration with a recognised teaching council (e.g. SACE or equivalent)

✔ Proven experience as a Director of Sport, Head of Sport, Sports Coordinator, or in a similar school leadership role

✔ At least 2 years of successful classroom teaching experience (preferred)

✔ Strong coaching background, particularly in traditional school sports such as cricket, rugby, tennis, or netball

✔ Demonstrated experience managing sports programmes, fixtures, tours, budgets, facilities, and staff

✔ Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

The successful candidate will combine educational credibility with broad sporting knowledge, strong administration, and a genuine commitment to the holistic development of primary-aged children.
