FINCA Zambia is seeking a dedicated Debt Recoveries Officer to join our team in Lusaka. This role plays a crucial part in managing and minimizing loan arrears by identifying and engaging with clients who have defaulted on payments, ensuring effective recovery processes beyond the efforts of client relationship officers.

About the Debt Recoveries Officer Role

As a Debt Recoveries Officer, you will coordinate the debt recovery process with a focus on reducing non-performing loans. Your responsibility will include monitoring overdue accounts, developing repayment strategies, and maintaining compliance with FINCA’s policies. This position requires a proactive approach to managing delinquent accounts and working closely with clients to restore their financial standing.

Key Responsibilities for Debt Recoveries Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Monitor loan portfolios to identify accounts overdue by 30 days or more.
• Work to roll back delinquent accounts from 30 days past due to current status (PAR 1).
• Analyze root causes of loan defaults and recommend corrective measures to supervisors.
• Develop and manage realistic repayment plans tailored to defaulting clients.
• Conduct regular field visits to clients’ business and residential locations to assess repayment capacity.
• Escalate challenging or uncooperative cases to the Legal department at appropriate stages.
• Ensure strict adherence to FINCA’s policies and procedures.
• Prepare and submit weekly recovery performance reports to management.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Diploma or Degree in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related business fields.
• At least two years of experience in debt collection and credit risk management within a banking or microfinance environment.
• Proven exposure to lending, credit administration, or debt recovery functions in a financial institution.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to work under pressure to meet recovery targets.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and understanding of credit risk and debt collection processes.
