Credit Controller (1)

Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the position is to ensure smooth credit control management so as to minimise credit risk to the company. The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the debts of a business. A Credit Controller oversees all debts owed to a company from existing creditors and manages new requests for credit. The job holder will report to the Chief Financial Officer. This role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with clients to ensure the smooth running of accounts.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Taking a proactive role in managing and collecting debts of company debtors
Evaluating new credit requests and reviewing customers’ credit rankings with banks
Setting up of terms and conditions of credit
Ensuring timely payment of debts
Following up payments as needed
Negotiating re-payment plans
Responding to relevant client enquiries
Processing and reconciliation of invoices
Checking and posting of receipts to accounting systems
Preparation of statements, client status reports and all relevant information as required
Contribute to the development of budgets to optimise profitability, in alignment with operational plans
Identify opportunities/solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and increase operational efficiency
Provide input into the risk identification processes and communicate recommendations in the appropriate forum
Assist internal and external customers with queries
Develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with peers and stakeholders
Positively influence and participate in change initiatives
Continuously develop own expertise in terms of professional, industry and legislation knowledge

Professional Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, Full ACCA/CIMA
Minimum two years of experience in the same role
Strong knowledge of debt management.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Strong customer service skills.
