About the Crane Operator Role

The successful Crane Operator will be responsible for the skilled operation of cranes to lift, move, and position heavy loads. This role requires careful planning and organisation of lift operations, including load assessment and selection of the appropriate crane and rigging configuration to meet safety regulations and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities for Crane Operator Jobs in Lusaka

• Operate various types of cranes and hoists daily under expert supervision at mining sites.
• Lift and attach loads with precision and accuracy.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and operational procedures.
• Maintain and update daily logs detailing material transportation, including load types and positions.
• Report daily activities and material movements to the Site Supervisor.
• Ensure all loads comply with crane weight limits and safety standards.
• Assemble and set up crane towers at construction locations.
• Perform routine maintenance such as monitoring fluid levels, inspecting equipment for wear or damage, and conducting necessary repairs.
• Maintain heavy lifting cables and ensure equipment readiness.
• Keep comprehensive records of crane operations, maintenance, and any incidents at the site.
• Continuously update knowledge of crane functions, safety standards, and operational best practices.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Certificate in Crane Operations.
• Valid crane operator license.
• Minimum of 3 years progressive experience as a Crane Operator in construction or mining environments.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI Standards and OSHA Regulations related to crane operations.
• Proven ability to safely load and unload heavy objects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
• Strong report writing and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Detail-oriented with a dedicated and hardworking approach.
