Key Responsibilities for Control Room Operator Jobs in Chingola

As a Control Room Operator, you will be entrusted with the following critical duties:

• Driver QHSE and Security Compliance: Monitor fleet movements to ensure safety compliance, including driving behaviors such as speed, harsh braking, and acceleration.
• Enforce driver adherence to convoy rules and mandatory rest breaks.
• Report any convoy violations and immediately engage drivers or escort teams regarding unauthorized route deviations or stops in high-risk areas.
• Query any unauthorized vehicle movements during prohibited hours without delay.
• Tracking and Asset Management: Maintain real-time GPS surveillance of the entire Zalawi fleet operating across Zambia, DRC, and South Africa.
• Coordinate with operations teams to authorize exceptions during restricted driving hours to ensure fleet safety.
• Collaborate with external security providers to activate protection measures in unsafe zones and for high-risk convoys.
• Provide drivers with up-to-date traffic information and alternative routing across all operational regions.
• Manage communications during civil unrest or riots, delivering safety and security advice to drivers.
• Compliance and Reporting: Prepare daily reports covering night driving activities, security incidents, compliance breaches, and corrective actions as per SOPs.
• Ensure all drivers follow company policies and legal regulations.
• Notify HR and operations supervisors about repeated SOP breaches and recommend disciplinary measures.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Diploma or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, Information Technology, or related fields.
• At least three years’ experience in a similar role within a fast-paced trucking, dispatch, or logistics control environment, preferably handling high-value cargo.
• Advanced skills in GPS tracking platforms and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in driver supervision, training, or transport operations is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations, logistics, and transport industry standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities.
