About the Construction Carpenter Jobs in Zambia

As a Shuttering Carpenter, you will be integral to ensuring the structural integrity of our construction projects. Your expertise in building, erecting, and dismantling formwork will support the proper setting of concrete, demanding precision and craftsmanship. We require professionals who understand the pressures involved with wet concrete and can construct formwork that is durable, accurate, and leak-proof.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret complex architectural and structural blueprints to determine formwork specifications.
• Measure, cut, and assemble timber, plywood, and metal panels to create accurate formwork molds.
• Erect and securely brace formwork to withstand the weight and pressure of wet concrete.
• Align, level, and plumb formwork with precision using laser levels, plumb bobs, and string lines.
• Apply release agents to formwork surfaces to facilitate concrete removal.
• Safely strip and dismantle formwork once concrete has cured.
• Maintain and store formwork materials and equipment in good condition.
• Collaborate closely with steel fixers, concrete placers, and site supervisors for seamless project execution.
• Adhere strictly to all site health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years proven experience as a shuttering/formwork carpenter on large-scale construction sites.
• Expertise with various formwork systems such as timber, plywood, Peri, Doka, or similar proprietary systems.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• High proficiency in measuring, cutting, and leveling with exceptional accuracy.
• Craft Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery.
• Possession of a comprehensive set of hand tools relevant to the trade.
• Physically fit to perform demanding manual labor, work at heights, and operate in diverse weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to following health and safety protocols.
