Position in the organisation
The Communications Advisor will work very closely with the other Communications Advisor in country. Both will report directly to the Country Programmes Manager.They will also work very closely with the Communications Department at head office in Brussels.
They will work across projects and will work alongside project staff to be able to effectively communicate the work and impact of our projects in Zambia and on a new pilot project in Malawi.
Result areas of this position:
Contribute to the ambition of VVOB to ensure learners around the world enjoy their fundamental human right to quality education by proactively identifying and producing content that increases awareness, understanding, and support among target groups and partners of VVOB in Zambia’s work.
Lead VVOB in Zambia’s communication efforts with a focus on Catch Up (including a new pilot project in Malawi) and VVOB in Zambia as a whole, ensuring that internal and external communication is consistent, strategic, and aligned with VVOB’s global communication strategy and values.
Develop and implement a VVOB in Zambia external communication plan with Foundational Learning as the core pillar, ensuring strong collaboration with VVOB colleagues and partners and clear identification of target audiences and objectives.
Write and design regular, attractive project updates and communication outputs such as impact infographics, project information sheets, social media posts and more, identifying and using the best channels and media to reach VVOB in Zambia’s target groups for external communication.
Provide coordination, technical support and advice to colleagues and partners when needed.
Position VVOB Zambia strategically through evidence-based comms that show systemic impact and strengthen donor visibility as well as creating a buy-in for future funding.
Keep abreast with communication trends, take part in internal and external working groups, task forces etc.
Provide quality assurance of materials and/or content developed in or for the programme, including proofreading, supporting layout, design, conformity to VVOB templates and standards etc. This also includes supporting colleagues in applying VVOB’s existing internal and external comms guidance where needed.
