Barrick Lumwana Mining Corporation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to join our Expansion Project Department as a Commissioning Document Controller based in Kalumbila, North West Province, Zambia. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a leading mining operation by ensuring the integrity and availability of commissioning documentation that supports critical project milestones.

About the Role: Commissioning Document Controller Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Senior Document Controller – LEP, you will manage and control all commissioning documents, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and accessible to facilitate pre-commissioning, commissioning, and operational handover activities. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining a structured document control system and supporting the seamless transition of systems into operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a structured document control system for all commissioning documentation including inspection/test requirements, procedures, check sheets, and handover packs.
  • Manage document numbering, revision control, distribution, and filing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate the compilation and tracking of Mechanical Completion (MC) and Commissioning Completion (CC) documentation.
  • Ensure commissioning records are progressively compiled, verified, and aligned with project specifications and turnover requirements.
  • Track and report on documentation status, ensuring readiness for system handover.
  • Liaise with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to facilitate timely submission and approval of documents.
  • Monitor document workflows to guarantee timely review, approval, and punch list close-out.
  • Maintain accurate registers of system turnover packages and handover certifications.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring all commissioning documents are retrievable and compliant with SOX and other standards.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports on documentation status for commissioning activities.
  • Ensure document control practices adhere to company standards and utilize digital systems such as SharePoint or equivalent EDMS.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in document control, preferably within engineering, construction, or commissioning environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Records & Archives Management, Library and Information Systems, Engineering Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes, system handover, and turnover documentation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and document management systems.
  • Experience with document control platforms such as Aconex, SharePoint, or similar EDMS.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and document control best practices in project settings.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., ZARMA or LIAZ) is an advantage.
