About the Role
As a Clinical Officer Unit Leader at MBHS, you will oversee clinical officers to ensure adherence to the Health Professions Council of Zambia’s Code of Conduct and MBHS Healthcare Standards. Your leadership will promote compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based care, while maintaining patient dignity and confidentiality. You will work collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer and other healthcare leaders to uphold international standards of clinical practice and ensure smooth clinical operations, including emergency response and shift handovers.

- Ensure clinical officers follow standard operating procedures and treatment guidelines consistent with HPCZ and MBHS standards.
- Supervise patient screening, triage, physical examinations, and documentation to maintain best practice and healthcare standards.
- Maintain accurate, legible patient records and timely communication of test results within 12 hours.
- Promote infection control protocols and a safe, hygienic environment throughout the clinic.
- Coordinate clinic rosters to guarantee adequate coverage, including after-hours and on-call shifts.
- Support and mentor junior clinical staff, fostering continuous professional development.
- Participate in clinical rounds, meetings, and mandatory training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with billing procedures, incident reporting, and quality control measures.
- Demonstrate professional conduct and excellent customer service towards patients and staff.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Clinical General Sciences is required.
- Registration and licensure with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) are mandatory.
- At least 3 to 5 years of combined clinical and leadership experience, preferably including 2 years in an emergency department.
- Certifications such as BLS, ITLS, and ACLS are advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks independently with strong problem-solving skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
