POSITIONS: 3 x CLERK OF WORKS – Nyimba, Katete and Lundazi.

Fixed Term Contract of 1 year

REPORT TO – THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

About the Zambia Entrepreneurs Park & College:

With our newly built training institution, we want to:

1) Position vocational training (apprenticeships with maximum practical exposure) as a viable alternative to academic pathways

2) Train quality craftsmen and develop them into small- and mid-sized entrepreneurs

3) Kick-start development in the areas around our institution. We plan to offer up to 10 professions in the future. ZEP apprentices will benefit from extensive practical training by our designated ZEP master craftsmen as well as high-quality teaching by our ZEC lecturers and visiting businessmen- and women – all with the aim of equipping our apprentices with all the skills needed to become the most successful entrepreneurs in Zambia.

An initial Entrepreneurs College and Park ZEP/ZEC has been established in Rufunsa. New sites are to be developed in rural centers such as Nyimba, Katete and Lundazi.

Duties

Provide Contract Supervision on Site
Maintain Daily Diary or register, site events, information matters and observations on site.
Check Tender Documents (Drawings, Bills of Quantities etc.) for discrepancies and seek instructions and clarifications from the Construction Manager.
Submit reports to the Construction Manager at required intervals.
Check the progress of work against the contractors’ programme of works.
Supervise tests as required by the Construction Manager and notify the Construction Manager of works or methods which are not in accordance with the Contract.
Notify the Construction Manager of any problem arising and any decision required to be made.
Confirm all directions in writing and inform the Construction Manager to seek confirmation and approval from the client.
Check effects of variation on associated Trades and Services.

Liaise with services Engineers and Quantity Surveyors as required.

Agree coordination of Trades and concealment of Services with the Contractor

Check Accuracy of contractor’s day work sheet and site records.

Attend Site meetings and Subcontractors meetings.

Maintain Records of Personnel by trade, Materials, Plant Equipment and tools on site including delivery dates.

Maintain as Built Drawings.

QUALIFICATION:

DIPLOMA in Civil engineering, Construction or equivalent.

Valid Registration with an appropriate Professional institution.

Must be able to operate AutoCAD.

Minimum 8 Years work experience in Building and Civil engineering on Site works.

Experience in 3D software, and electrical and Mechanical installations is an added advantage
