Karibu Trading Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions on an upcoming civil engineering project.

IMPORTANT: For all engineering positions, a valid EIZ (Engineering Institution of Zambia) membership is required. Candidates without a valid membership should not apply.

A. ENGINEERING & PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS

1. CONTRACT MANAGER / PROJECT MANAGER

Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering

Experience: 10+ years

EIZ Membership: Required

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid EIZ membership (mandatory).
• Proven experience managing large-scale civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of contract management (FIDIC or similar).
• Ability to lead project teams, control budgets, and ensure timely delivery.
• Excellent negotiation, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.

2. SITE ENGINEER

Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering

Experience: 5+ years

EIZ Membership: Required

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid EIZ membership (mandatory).
• Supervision of daily site operations and construction activities.
• Interpretation of drawings, setting out, and quality control.
• Coordination with subcontractors and foremen.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, or similar software.

3. ASSISTANT SITE ENGINEER

Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering

Experience: Entry level / junior

EIZ Membership: Required

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid EIZ membership (mandatory).
• Assist the Site Engineer in daily supervision and record-keeping.
• Basic knowledge of surveying and setting out.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong willingness to learn and work under supervision.

4. GEOMATIC SURVEYOR

Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering

Experience: 3+ years

EIZ Membership: Required

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid EIZ membership (mandatory).
• Proficient in total stations, GPS, and laser levels.
• Experience in topographic and construction surveying.
• Knowledge of GIS and survey software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Surfer).

5. SOCIAL SPECIALIST

Qualification: Degree in Economics or Developmental Studies

Experience: 3+ years

Detailed Requirements:

• Experience in social impact assessment and community engagement.
• Ability to develop resettlement action plans (RAP).
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

6. EARTHWORKS FOREMAN

Qualification: Diploma in Civil Engineering

Experience: 3+ years

EIZ Membership: Required

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid EIZ membership (mandatory).
• Hands-on supervision of earthmoving equipment and operators.
• Knowledge of cut/fill operations, compaction, and levelling.
• Strong leadership and site safety enforcement.

7. ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

Qualification: Degree in Environmental Engineering

Experience: 3+ years

EIZ Membership: Required

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid EIZ membership (mandatory).
• Experience in environmental impact assessments (EIA).
• Knowledge of environmental management plans (EMP).
• Familiarity with local environmental regulations.

8. SAFETY OFFICER

Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety

Experience: 3+ years

EIZ Membership: Not required (but valid safety certification required)

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or Zambian equivalent).
• Experience in construction site safety management.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
• Knowledge of Zambian health and safety regulations.
• Incident investigation and report writing skills.

B. HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATORS

9. EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

Qualification: Valid operator certificate / trade test

Experience: 3+ years

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid excavator operator certification.
• Proven experience on civil construction sites.
• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and safety checks.
• Ability to work under supervision of the Earthworks Foreman.

10. BULLDOZER OPERATOR

Qualification: Valid operator certificate / trade test

Experience: 3+ years

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid bulldozer operator certification.
• Experience in land clearing, levelling, and earthmoving.
• Knowledge of blade control and slope finishing.
• Basic machine servicing skills.

11. ROLLER COMPACTOR OPERATOR

Qualification: Valid operator certificate / trade test

Experience: 3+ years

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid roller compactor operator certification.
• Experience in soil and asphalt compaction.
• Knowledge of compaction standards (layers, passes, moisture control).
• Ability to follow grade and level instructions.

12. TIPPER TRUCK OPERATOR

Qualification: Valid driver’s license (Class C or higher) + operator permit

Experience: 3+ years

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid Class C driver’s license (or equivalent for heavy goods).
• Experience hauling earth, sand, gravel, or quarry materials.
• Knowledge of tipping mechanism safety.
• Basic vehicle daily inspection skills.

C. DRIVERS

13. DRIVER (General / Light Vehicle)

Qualification: Valid driver’s license (Class B or C)

Experience: 3+ years

Detailed Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Experience driving on construction or rural roads.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (oil, water, tyres, brakes).
• Ability to follow site transport schedules.
