Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chinese head Chef to lead our kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in authentic Chinese cuisine, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and oversee the production of authentic Chinese dishes while maintaining consistency and quality.
- Develop and update menus, including seasonal and specialty offerings.
- Supervise, train, and motivate the kitchen team to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintain high standards of food presentation, taste, and portion control.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Manage food inventory, ordering, stock control, and cost management.
- Minimize food waste and maximize kitchen efficiency.
- Collaborate with management to enhance the overall dining experience.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chinese Head Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or similar establishment.
- Extensive knowledge of authentic Chinese cuisine, including regional cooking techniques and ingredients.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are an added advantage.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, or a related field. A recognized culinary qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years’ proven experience preparing authentic Chinese cuisine in a reputable restaurant, hotel, or similar establishment.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role, with the ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate kitchen staff.
- Strong knowledge of authentic Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and menu planning.
- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Experience in stock management, food costing, and minimizing kitchen waste.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
