Job Purpose

The Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial reports, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. Managing, analyzing, and reporting a company’s financial transactions  and ensure accurate record-keeping, tax compliance, and financial health of an organization through audits, reports, and budgeting. Preparing and maintaining financial statements and reports. Managing tax filings and ensuring compliance with tax laws.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Work with the Finance Manager in preparing financial statements, including monthly and annual accounts
Prepare monthly account reconciliations Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules
Supervising accounting staff
Work with the Finance Manager in arranging financial management reports, including financial planning and forecasting
Maintain accurate ledgers, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
Review the company’s systems and analyse risk
Prepare appropriate commentary or explanations relating to report items of particular interest or significance; may use some judgment as to what is of interest.
Perform tests to check financial information and systems
Maintain accounting records and prepare accounts and management information for Senior Management Team
Conduct any pertinent investigation of the accounts involved.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and file tax returns.
Conduct internal audits and financial risk assessments.
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
Oversee payroll management and expense tracking.
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
Assist in financial planning, cost analysis, and investment decisions.
Stay updated with accounting standards, policies, and regulations.

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

Must be a Chartered Accountant (Full professional qualifications – CA Zambia, ACCA or CIMA)
Must have a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in accounting or Finance
Proficiency in accounting software (Navison, SAP or Oracle).
Good Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations.
Must have a minimum of 1-2 experience with financial reporting and forecasting.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial modeling.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
Must be a member of ZICA
