Job description
Position Title: Business Development Intern
Location: Remote / Hybrid (Based in Zambia)
Organization: Chain Research Organization and Consultancy (CROC)
Type: Internship (Unpaid, Incentive-Based)
Reporting to: Managing Director
About CROC
Chain Research Organization and Consultancy (CROC) is a Zambian-based consultancy firm offering research, evaluation, business development, project management, training, branding, and digital services to private, nonprofit, and public sector organizations.
Role Purpose:
The Business Development Intern will play a critical role in identifying business opportunities, drafting high-quality proposals, and building strategic partnerships for CROC. The intern will work closely with the Managing Director to grow the company’s visibility and client portfolio through research, writing, and outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research to identify tenders, grant opportunities, and consulting gigs aligned with CROC’s services
Write compelling proposals, expressions of interest, and concept notes for clients, donors, and partners.
Maintain a pipeline of business opportunities and track submission deadlines.
Build and maintain a database of potential clients, partners, and donors.
Reach out to potential clients via email, LinkedIn, or direct proposals.
Support development of company profiles, capability statements, and promotional material.
Contribute to growth strategies and support marketing campaigns in collaboration with the digital team.
Prepare weekly or bi-weekly updates on outreach and proposal development progress
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Development Studies, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
Strong writing skills, especially in proposal writing and business communication
Ability to research funding opportunities and tailor applications to meet requirements
High level of initiative, creativity, and commitment to results.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
