About the Barista Barman Jobs in Lusaka at Lula’s Cafe

As a vital member of our front-of-house team, you will create a welcoming atmosphere by preparing a diverse range of drinks—from expertly pulled espresso shots and latte art to perfectly mixed cocktails and other beverages. Your role will ensure every guest enjoys a consistently high-quality drink alongside attentive and professional service.

Key Responsibilities

• Beverage Preparation: Skillfully prepare coffee drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, espresso, and pour-overs using professional espresso machines. Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beer, and wine, adhering to recipes and local regulations.
• Customer Service & Engagement: Greet and interact with customers warmly and professionally. Accurately take orders, describe menu items, and provide tailored recommendations. Manage cash and credit transactions efficiently using the POS system.
• Bar and Cafe Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, coffee station, and all equipment. Ensure hygiene and safety standards are consistently met, including cleaning glassware and utensils. Monitor inventory levels and report shortages promptly.
• Equipment Upkeep: Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of bar equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and refrigeration units to ensure optimal operation.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with front-of-house and back-of-house staff to maintain smooth service flow and enhance the overall guest experience.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience as a barista, barman, or in a similar role within a café, restaurant, or bar environment.
• Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso preparation, and latte art is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of cocktail recipes, mixology methods, and responsible alcohol service.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to maintain attention to detail and consistency under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency with POS systems and basic math skills.
• Flexible availability to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
