ASSISTANT ENGINEER X1

Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Implementation Engineer – Civil, the job holder is responsible for supervising construction programs for both in-house and contracted works. These will include water networks, water treatment works and Sewer networks.

Main accountabilities

• Ensure Contractor has regularly approved program of works including all critical working drawings, constantly monitoring project cost, quality and time.
• Check that contractor has adequate levels of deployment of staff, plant and equipment on site for speedy implementation of the works and report to Superiors all eventualities that require action.
• Inspect/check adherence to contract provisions by contractors and consultants.
• Submit monthly progress update complete with labour, plant and equipment returns for in-house supervised works.
• Prepare detailed measurement sheets for quantities done on site to be used for payments.
• Overseeing quality control, health and safety matters on site.
• Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction engineering
• Minimum 3 Years post qualification experience in a similar role
• Member EIZ
• Experience in Water and sanitation infrastructure planning design and implementation
• Experience in project supervision and contract management
• Knowledge in engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Knowledge in GIS and engineering software
• Ability to drive a manual motor vehicle
