About the Assistant Accountant Role
As an Assistant Accountant at Mungwi Park Gardens, you will play a vital role in supporting daily financial operations. Your responsibilities will include managing sales reconciliations, assisting with payroll, handling accounts payable, and supporting inventory accounting. The position requires accuracy, integrity, and the ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
Key Requirements for Assistant Accountant Jobs in Lusaka West
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional qualification or active progress towards Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) certification (CA Zambia, Licentiate, or Technician level) is an advantage
- 1 to 2 years of practical accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, retail, or service industries
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage Pastel, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Familiarity with Zambian tax regulations and compliance (PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, VAT) is beneficial
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VLOOKUP, PivotTables, formulas, reconciliations, and reporting
- High integrity, confidentiality, and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work weekends and public holidays as required by the hospitality sector
- Must be based in Lusaka or willing to work in Lusaka West
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform daily sales reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records
- Support stock control and inventory accounting processes
- Manage petty cash transactions efficiently
- Process supplier payments and oversee accounts payable
- Assist with payroll administration, bank reconciliations, and other assigned accounting duties
