Position Overview
As an Assistant Accountant at Astro Holdings Ltd, you will play a vital role in supporting our accounts department. We require a results-driven individual who can work independently and collaboratively across teams, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to excellence in financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Prepare financial reports for management review
- Support tax preparation and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Assist with payroll processing and employee compensation
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
- Contribute to audit processes and uphold internal control standards
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ relevant accounting experience
- Diploma in Accounting is essential; a degree is an added advantage
- Professional certifications such as ACCA or ZICA are required
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and statutory requirements in Zambia
- Proficient computer skills, including Excel and accounting ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, Tally)
Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical abilities
- Effective communication skills for clear reporting and teamwork
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Familiarity with payroll software and financial databases for compliance and reporting
- Ability to meet strict deadlines during month-end closing and audits
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently
