Job description:

Job Purpose

To carry out workshop-based fabrication, maintenance, and repair of metal structures and mining equipment components. The role supports efficient plant operations by ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of mechanical fabrication works in a controlled workshop environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Perform fabrication, cutting, bending, and welding of metal components in the workshop as per engineering drawings and specifications.
Manufacture and repair items such as chutes, hoppers, brackets, guards, pipes, and structural frames used across the mine site.
Operate workshop tools and machinery, including cutting torches, grinders, welding machines, guillotines, and hydraulic presses.
Read and interpret fabrication drawings to ensure accurate and safe construction.
Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to dimensional tolerances and material specifications.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment.
Collaborate with maintenance teams for component fabrication and repair to minimize plant downtime.
Conduct pre-fabrication planning and material identification to improve efficiency.
Complete job cards, fabrication logs, and material usage records.
Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

Craft or Advanced Certificate in Boilermaking or Metal Fabrication.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a workshop setting, preferably in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding processes.
Skilled in the use of fabrication tools and workshop equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical and fabrication drawings.
Sound knowledge of workshop safety protocols.
