About the Role: Artisan Boilermaker Opportunities in Kalumbila

This full-time position requires executing both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks on a shift basis, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. The Artisan Boilermaker will be responsible for maintaining conveyor steel structures, performing MIG welding, fitting liners, and general fabrication duties. A key focus is on delivering results that meet company standards while supporting the development of local Zambian talent through ongoing training.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on crushers and conveyor steel structures, including daily inspections and liner fitment
• Execute MIG welding and thermal lancing of mantle liners and heavy-duty steel components
• Develop and install cable racking bends and offsets
• Use oxy and acetylene cutting torches safely and effectively
• Read and interpret schematic drawings and site variations
• Provide continuous training and development for direct reports, focusing on Zambian employees
• Operate with minimal supervision and perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors

Required Skills and Competencies

• Ability to interpret complex fabrication drawings and work with CNC brake press and plasma cutter
• Experience with heavy fabrication, pipe fitting, and working on fixed and mobile plants
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, pressure welding, oxy lancing, air arc gouging, silver soldering, and brazing
• Knowledge of welding aluminium, cast iron, and gas/gasless welding wires
• Experience with bucket repairs, hard facing, truck tray relining, and pre-pinch rollers, guillotine, punch & shears, band saw operations
• Strong organizational skills, professionalism, and ability to make timely decisions under pressure
• Effective communication skills in English and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 Certificate (minimum)
• Craft Certificate in Metal Fabrication
• Relevant artisan certification in fabrication/welding
• At least 2 years of experience in mining or heavy industry
• Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
• Valid driver’s license and computer literacy where applicable
