Job description

Africa Call organisation (ACO) is a local NGO based in Kanyama running a comprehensive program in the areas of education and health, with a main focus on disability, aimed at:

promoting social justice;
supporting community development;
encouraging advancement of positive living conditions of under-privileged persons, especially CWD

ACO is looking for a motivated and energetic Trainer & IGA Developer for its skills training centre in General Agriculture (trade certificate)

Objective/ Purpose of job:

1.       Teach different courses in the field of general agriculture (farming, poultry, entrepreneurship, communication) at skills level (currently trade certificate), for an inclusive skills training centre (open also youths with disability) – about 50% of time

2.       Supervise and develop the IGAs of the same skills centre (poultry and garden), with particular attention to the aspects of marketing and sales. – about 50% of time

Roles & Responsibilities/ Principal Duties:

1.       IGAs development:

–          Supervise the work in the garden and the poultry, to optimise productivity and profitability;

–          Develop tools to monitor profitability and productivity

–          In charge of marketing and sales of poultry and garden produce

–          Develop business plans for the introduction of new IGAs

2.       Teaching:

–          Plan the lessons, both for the theoretical and practical part, keeping in mind the TEVETA curriculum and adapting them to the capabilities of the students when needed;

–          Produce all the necessary teaching materials to deliver the lessons;

–          Manage different courses, alternating hours in the classroom and hours in the garden and the poultry;

–          Coordinate with other staff to organise the classrooms timetable, attachment, examination;

–          Develop tools to assess the students’ competences and monitor their learning progresses;

–          Compile reports upon request of the Supervisors;

–          Plan, organise and deliver Monitoring & Evaluation activities;

3.       Any other task in line with the position that may be requested by the Supervisor

Requirements:

At least holds a diploma in General Agriculture, Agriculture Education and/or Animal Science, with Teaching methodology
At least 2 years of relevant experience in farm production, sales & marketing and/or skills training in agriculture
Clear knowledge of the TEVETA system and curricula for any course in farming and poultry
Experience in preparing and delivering written and verbal communications to a range of audiences
Good knowledge of the office package (word, excel, powerpoint)
Experience in working with persons with disability is an asset
Experience working in an NGO
Team player – able to work collaboratively with colleagues.
