Advisor – Environmental and Social Opportunity in Kitwe Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) invites qualified professionals to apply for the role of Advisor – Environmental and Social, a key position based in Kitwe, Zambia. About the Role: Environmental and Social Advisor Jobs in Kitwe Reporting directly to the Senior Manager – Health, Safety, Environment and Risk, the Advisor will provide expert guidance on environmental policy programs designed to meet and exceed regulatory requirements. This full-time, permanent position (CEC Grade 6) plays a critical role in developing and implementing sustainability strategies that align with global best practices. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement corporate sustainability strategies and environmental protection programs. Support ESG reporting and disclosure in compliance with international standards. Conduct carbon footprint assessments and recommend mitigation measures. Provide technical advice on environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance specific to CEC operations. Lead Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) for new projects to secure necessary regulatory approvals. Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental and social risks related to projects and operations. Design and implement mitigation plans addressing biodiversity, water management, and pollution control. Develop emergency response plans for environmental and social incidents. Maintain effective Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) aligned with ISO 14001 and IFC Performance Standards. Plan and execute compliance inspections and audits to ensure continuous environmental performance improvement. Establish grievance mechanisms for affected communities and prepare comprehensive environmental and social performance reports. Design and deliver environmental awareness training programs supporting company policies and management plans. Respond promptly to environmental incidents with thorough investigations and corrective action plans. Manage sectional budgets in line with company guidelines and promote a safe, secure work environment. Collaborate effectively within teams to achieve organizational objectives. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Natural Resources Management. Certification in Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001). Training in IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Safeguards, and Equator Principles. Nebosh Environmental Management certificate. Certified Environmental and Social Analyst designation. Relevant ESG and Sustainability certifications. Minimum of three years’ experience in environmental management within a similar environmental and social context. Strong expertise in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments and Environmental Management Systems.
