Job description

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract (2 Years).

Sieben Construction Limited is looking for a disciplined, analytical and dependable Accounts Assistant to join our team in Lusaka. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to take on meaningful responsibility in a growing construction company. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day finance function while helping strengthen the company’s financial systems, controls and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

 Process and maintain accurate accounting records.

 Manage ZRA Smart Invoice transactions and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

 Prepare VAT, PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA and other statutory returns.

 Process payroll and maintain payroll records.

 Perform bank, supplier and account reconciliations.

 Monitor and record project expenditure.

 Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.

 Maintain proper financial documentation and filing systems.

 Support the implementation and continuous improvement of finance systems and internal controls.

 Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

 Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.

 Up to two (2) years; relevant accounting experience.

 Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

 Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

 Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

 High levels of integrity, professionalism and accountability.

 Strong organizational and time management skills.

 Good written and verbal communication skills.

Progress towards a professional qualification such as ZICA, ACCA or CIMA will be an added advantage.

Preference will be given to candidates with practical exposure to payroll processing, statutory returns, ZRA Smart Invoice, bank reconciliations and the preparation of monthly management accounts.
