Simply Accounts Ltd is a UK-based accounting and business advisory firm with a support office in Livingstone, Zambia. We provide bookkeeping, statutory accounts, tax compliance, and advisory services to small and medium-sized businesses, operating to UK professional standards.

Role Overview

We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to support our UK team by delivering accurate bookkeeping and assisting with management and year-end accounts preparation. Training will be provided on UK systems and processes where required.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain bookkeeping records for UK clients
Process invoices, expenses, and bank transactions
Perform bank reconciliations and maintain VAT and payroll control accounts
Prepare journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation)
Assist with management accounts and year-end statutory accounts
Prepare working papers and supporting schedules
Support VAT returns and basic corporation tax workings
Process weekly and monthly payroll
Maintain accurate client files and meet agreed deadlines
Candidate Requirements

Essential:

Minimum 2 years’ accounting or bookkeeping experience
Experience in an accounting practice or professional environment
Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge
Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or similar software
Good Excel skills
High attention to detail and strong communication skills

Desirable:

Accounting/Finance qualification (or studying AAT, ZICA, ACCA)
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
