Job description
Job Title: Accountant
Department: Finance
Reporting Line: Finance Director
Location: Lusaka, Zambia (With Travel)
This is a permanent position.
The Role:
We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Zambia. The role supports effective financial management across both manufacturing and retail operations. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with local regulations, and timely submission of reports to the international group and investor.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with both local accounting standards and group reporting requirements.
Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and payment processes to ensure efficient financial operations.
Support preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws, statutory filings, and other regulatory obligations.
Prepare and submit financial and management reports required by the group and the investors.
Assist with audits and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
Maintain internal controls and support process improvements in financial systems.
Liaise with suppliers, customers, and external partners (e.g., auditors, tax authorities, banks).
Qualifications /experience required:
Qualified Accountant with a relevant Degree or equivalent certification.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance and administration.
Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Solid knowledge and hands-on experience in financial accounting and administrative processes.
Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and external partners.
Experience working in an international company with global operations preferred.
Experience in grant reporting is an advantage.
Experience in retail and or manufacturing is an advantage.
