Accountant Jobs in Lusaka – Join a Leading Energy and Infrastructure Company
Africa Personnel Services is recruiting on behalf of a prominent energy and infrastructure development company operating in Lusaka, Zambia. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Accountant to enhance the finance function and contribute to strategic financial planning. This contract position offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to play a pivotal role in financial management and reporting.
Key Responsibilities for Accountant Jobs in Lusaka
The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring precise financial reporting and compliance with statutory requirements. Core responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the general ledger with accurate classification of financial transactions
- Preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Monitoring cash flow and managing treasury functions
- Producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards
- Conducting variance analysis comparing budgeted figures to actual results
- Submitting VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and other statutory returns timely
- Liaising with tax authorities and supporting tax audits
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Coordinating internal and external audits
- Maintaining strong internal controls
- Managing the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
- Providing ad-hoc financial analysis to support the Finance Manager
Qualifications and Experience Required
Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications and experience to be considered for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ZICA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Active membership in good standing with ZICA
- 4 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling
- Experience in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors is advantageous
