Job description

Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (LCML) owns and operates the Lubambe underground Copper Mine located in Chililabombwe District of the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. The Mine which commenced operations in 2012 is situated approximately 468 kilometres North of the Capital City of Lusaka, 152 Kilometres from Ndola and approximately 40 Kilometres from Chingola.
Lubambe Copper Mine sits on an area of approximately 58.1 square kilometres and comprises an existing underground mine, characterised by two distinct limbs (the East and South Limbs) and a processing Plant with a capacity to process up to 2.4 million tonnes per annum.
LCML places the highest priority on safety with a world-class safety system in place and understands its obligations to carry out mining in a sustainable manner. Its Corporate Social Responsibility programme focuses on education, agriculture, health, and infrastructure.

JCHX owns 80% of LCML, whilst ZCCM-IH owns 20% on behalf of the Zambian Government.

LCML seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position:

DRIVER (X1)

This position reports to the Foreman.

Core Purpose of the Position:

To provide secure and timely driving services.

Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):

Propel the vehicle in a safe and lawful manner and in accordance with Lubambe Copper Mine regulations as well as Zambian Traffic laws & Regulations
Ensure punctuality, comfort and safety of passengers
 Ensure that seatbelts (front and rear) are always worn and passengers are instructed to fasten them as per logistics policy manual
 Ensure that every Lubambe Copper mine vehicle is always kept secure
 Ensure that mobile phones are not used while the vehicle is in motion, unless the car ear piece is provided for the mobile phone to be used
 Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy and in good working condition
 Conduct daily vehicle inspections before using the vehicle and immediately report any mechanical faults, unusual noises or other abnormalities to your supervisor
 Ensure that all essential equipment is kept in the vehicle and is in good working condition – car jack, spare tire, first aid kit etc.
 Maintain and submit vehicle log book information to supervisor on a weekly basis
 Report any accident immediately, however small it may be
 Ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule
 Perform other related duties assigned from time to time by the supervisor

Academic Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

A full Grade 12 School Certificate.
 Class C Driver’s Licence.
 Minimum 3 years’ experience in an underground mining environment.
 Experience of having driven in underground working areas will be added advantage.
