Job description
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Farm Superintendent to oversee the daily operations of our agricultural facility. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker who can manage resources effectively, optimize production processes, and ensure sustainable practices are implemented across all farming activities.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute annual farming plans, including crop rotation and planting schedules, to maximize yield and ensure sustainability
Manage and allocate resources effectively, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize operational efficiency
Implement best practices in crop production and pest management, utilizing precision agriculture techniques
Monitor crop health and soil conditions, conducting regular assessments and adjustments as necessary
Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations and safety standards, including environmental stewardship
Collaborate with agricultural scientists and stakeholders to innovate and improve farming methods and technologies
Oversee budgeting and financial planning for farming operations, ensuring profitability and cost control
Lead, mentor, and train farm staff on operational procedures, safety practices, and equipment usage
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or a related field such as Agronomy.
3+ years of experience in farm management or agricultural operations
Strong knowledge of crop production practices, pest management, and soil science
Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analysis
Certifications in sustainable agriculture practices or organic farming
Experience with livestock management
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
Strong understanding of irrigation systems, fertilization techniques, and crop health monitoring technologies
Familiarity with modern farming equipment and machinery
Soft Skills
Valid Motor Cycle license and or Vehicle Driving License
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage diverse teams and work with rural folks
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
A passion for sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship
NOTE: Farm site is remote and so not ideal for family. Crops under cultivation:
Macadamia Trees
Watermelons
Onions
Cabbage
Garlic
Ginger
Annual salary range: Negotiable
