Description

JOB PURPOSE

 

The role is responsible for designing and evaluating credit risk models that work in prediction and scoring customers based on their financial behaviors. The role holder will use data available from both internal and external sources to build fraud and credit models to make real-time decisions.

 

Under the supervision of the Digital & SME Lending Head, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:

 

Understand and build trends and patterns from unstructured and structured data to identify good and bad borrowers.
Identify patterns of fraudulent behavior and build credit models to detect and prevent these behaviors.
Propose product and credit policy changes to improve company profitability.
Monitor and circulate digital loans portfolio analysis to identify trends, lead weekly digital lending steering committee meetings to share updates and analysis.
Develop statistical models to assist in pricing and user segmentation.
Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by management.
Actively participate in the preparation and conduction of the digital lending portfolio quality review meetings
Manage the relationship between mobile network operators and the bank to ensure the product is running smoothly.
Ensure adherence to IFRS9 and Bank of Zambia provisioning frameworks.
Develop and implement strategies to attract customers and promote digital lending products and services.
Manage seamless end-to-end loan application processes, from initial inquiry to disbursement, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including digital team, legal, and compliance, to facilitate smooth operations of the product.
Utilize digital platforms and fintech solutions to streamline loan origination and servicing processes.
Monitor loan performance and conduct periodic reviews to mitigate credit risks.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks.

External: Bank of Zambia, MNOs, Transunion (Credit Reference Bureau), External Auditors, Service Providers
Internal: All internal Business Units
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 Certificate with Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects
University degree or equivalent professional qualification in fields relating to Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or Accounting
Zambia Qualifications Authority (Zaqa) Verification Certificate for Tertiary Qualifications
At least 4 years’ related work experience in the banking sector. Added advantage if its credit related
Knowledge of banking and financial sector
Knowledge of digital technology trends, credit and portfolio management
Awareness of legislation
Good presentation and communications skills
